Jaipur, July 25 -- Rajasthan has added over 100,00,000 (10 million) new beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) since the updated portal to apply for the scheme was opened, state food and civil supplies minister Sumit Godara said on Friday. He said between January 1, 2024 and August 31, 2024, 12,95,664 new beneficiaries were added, said Godara. After January 26, 2025 when the department portal was opened, another 87,81,518 beneficiaries were added, as on July 24, 2026. Godara said the total beneficiaries stands at 1,00,77,182. "The ceiling for Rajasthan under NFSA is 4.46 crore. So we can add many more deserving people under the act," he said. Godara said the food department started a "Give Up campaign" from November 1, 2024 to inspire those undeserving to give up their membership. "I am happy to share that till now 94.99 lakh people have given up their membership of their own accord,"he said. Godara said Congress leaders too were appreciating the initiative to add new beneficiaries. "Under the Congress government, the portal was not opened to add new beneficiaries. But our government believes in Sabka saath, sabka vikas, so we have added new beneficiaries in all constituencies," he said. As per the department data, Jaipur tops in districts where new beneficiaries have been added with 3,81,816 new additions. Godara said 81,000 applications are pending with the department for new additions under the NFSA. Congress spokesperson Swarnim Chaturvedi said the government had complicated the process of addition and deletion.
