nw Rly builds 20 pit lines to aid maintenance
Jaipur, April 9 -- North Western Railway has started construction of 20 new pit lines across its network to nearly double train maintenance capacity and boost rail operations in the region, officials said.
According to chief public relations officer Amit Sudarshan, the zone is pursuing an extensive plan to strengthen train maintenance capabilities-a critical factor in enhancing rail operations. The zone currently operates 22 pit lines at various locations under its jurisdiction. These facilities handle primary train maintenance, ensuring timely upkeep and safe operations.
Officials said the expansion will nearly double existing maintenance capacity, significantly improving train operations. It should enable new train services, benefiting passengers nationwide and spurring regional socio-economic growth.
North Western Railway also plans 10 more pit lines as part of its long-term infrastructure strategy. These projects are at various stages of planning and approval....
