NGT seeks fresh report on violations in Bikaner
Jaipur, Oct. 8 -- The National Green Tribunal's (NGT) Central Zone Bench in Bhopal has sought fresh action-taken and compliance reports on alleged continuing violations of environmental laws in Bikaner, directing the concerned authorities to submit their progress within four weeks.
The direction came during the hearing of an execution application concerning alleged non-compliance with directions issued earlier by the tribunal in an environmental matter. The case was heard on October 6 by a bench comprising justice Sheo Kumar Singh and expert member Sudhir Kumar Chaturvedi.
The tribunal took note of allegations of serious violations involving RIICO and observed that the directions and observations made in the original proceedings had not been fully complied with.
During the hearing, RIICO's counsel told the tribunal that substantial parts of the directions were under consideration and that steps had been initiated towards compliance. The tribunal, however, directed RIICO to submit a further progress/action-taken report within four weeks. The matter has been listed for further hearing on December 14.htc...
