NGT seeks action over ropeway in Jaipur forest
Jaipur, May 15 -- The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Thursday directed Rajasthan forest authorities to explain why action was not taken over the alleged illegal construction of a ropeway complex on reserved forest land in Jaipur and has sought departmental action against officials responsible for permitting the alleged encroachment.
During the proceedings, the forest department cited a survey which reportedly found that the ropeway's upper station, lower station, and corridor had been constructed on reserved forest land other than the forest land originally proposed and diverted for the project. Taking serious note of the matter, the NGT directed that an action taken report be submitted within 30 days.
The matter has been listed for further hearing on July 6, 2026....
