Jaipur, Aug. 6 -- The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Wednesday directed the Rajasthan Forest Department to take strict action over alleged encroachment on reserved forest land and multiple environmental violations linked to the Jaipur ropeway project and asked the state's top forest official to personally monitor the matter. Hearing an application, the Central Zone Bench observed that reports submitted by the Forest Department and a Joint Committee indicated key ropeway infrastructure appeared to have been constructed outside the forest land legally diverted for the project. NGT also took note of alleged unauthorized commercial activities. It asked the PCCF, or an officer not below the rank of Chief Conservator of Forests authorised by him, to submit an Action Taken Report through an affidavit within two weeks. The matter will be heard next on August 31.htc...
