Jaipur, July 7 -- The state police on Monday announced a strategy to target financial networks of drug trafficking and organised crime syndicates by confiscating their properties as proceeds to crime, while reporting a 4.65% decline in cases registered over serious offences in the last six months. Presenting the police department's six-month report card at the Rajasthan Police Academy, Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Kumar Sharma said the force was moving beyond conventional policing and would increasingly focus on preventing crime, technology-driven policing and dismantling the economic backbone of criminal organisations. According to official figures, cases registered under the BNS dropped from 99,272 during January-June 2025 to 94,652 in the corresponding period this year, reflecting a 4.65% decline. At the same time, cases registered under local and special laws increased from 49,087 to 51,172, a rise of 4.25% The police reported a decline in cases registered across nearly all major categories of violent crime. Murder cases registered fell from 703 to 672, a decline of 4.41%, while attempt to murder cases registered reduced from 1,288 to 1,145. Dacoity cases registered also dropped from 43 to 36, while robbery cases registered declined from 577 to 462. Kidnapping and abduction cases declined from 5,211 to 4,965, while rape cases involving adult women dropped from 2,088 to 1,809. Cases registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act fell from 1,651 to 1,306, a decline of 20.9%. Cases under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act also came down from 3,121 to 2,534. Sharma said police had also achieved a major improvement in recovering stolen property. Recovery in robbery cases increased from 71% to 79.09%, while burglary recovery witnessed a dramatic jump from 9.58% to 58.24%. Recovery of stolen property in theft cases improved from 10.34% to 24.79%, which he attributed to better investigation techniques, technology and coordinated policing. The anti-drug campaign remained one of the department's biggest priorities during the review period.
