Meet Leisha Patidar, viral FIFA reel girl who's got football fans grooving
India, July 3 -- Mumbai-based content creator Leisha Patidar, who has been creating social media content since 2020, has seen a massive surge in popularity with her FIFA WC 2026-themed series. Launched on June 9, the series has helped her gain over 2.7 lakh followers in just 15 days, with her Instagram following (@leishapatidarrr) now standing at 1.1 million.
The viral series blends makeup transformations with clips of international football players combined with songs, quickly striking a chord with football fans worldwide. "Honestly, I didn't expect it to become this big. I started seeing comments from football fans across different countries. That's when I realised this wasn't just reaching my usual audience anymore," she says.
The idea came to her after attending the IPL final in Ahmedabad, where she heard the Royal Challengers Bengaluru anthem and thought she could work around it to make something creative during FIFA.
The 24-year-old spends a little less than 12 hours preparing one reel. "It takes 6 to 10 hours depending on the look. From researching the team's identity and designing the makeup to shooting, editing, and making sure every little detail represents the country properly, it's a long process, but one I genuinely enjoy," she says.
One of her most viral moments came when fans flooded her with requests for an India-themed video, which quickly crossed one million likes. "That was probably one of the most requested videos throughout the series," she says, addin, "My comments and DMs were full of people asking me to do India-themed videos, and I always knew I wanted to. It felt like the perfect way to celebrate our own football community and show that Indian fans are just as passionate."...
