Man held for posing as IAS officer, raping several minors: Police
JODHPUR, July 29 -- A 47-year-old man was arrested in Jodhpur for allegedly befriending multiple minors by posing as an IAS officer and then raping them, police said on Tuesday,
The accused was identified as Umedaram Bishnoi.
Ratanada Station House Officer (SHO) Mohammad Shafiq Khan said the case came to light through a complaint submitted on Sunday by a survivor, who alleged that the accused reached out to her in 2024 and offered to help improve her board exam scores. Eventually, he allegedly lured her with a promise of a government job, took her to a hotel and raped her after giving her a spiked juice.
SHO Khan alleged that preliminary investigations revealed that Bishnoi, who also went by the alias Raj Udawat or Akki, was systematically targeting young school and coaching class students. He would roam around libraries and coaching centres to select his victims, said police.
So far, three criminal cases were registered against Bishnoi, said police. The probe was underway, they added....
