Kota NEET aspirant died by suicide, cited poor exam prep in note: Police
Jaipur, May 5 -- Two days after a 20-year-old National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) aspirant fell from the sixth floor of his hostel in Kota, police confirmed on Monday he had died suicide after recovering his suicide note, officers said.
Kunhadi station house officer Devesh Bharadwaj said: "After analysing the CCTV footage, we found he was strolling on the balcony early on Saturday morning before jumping from the sixth floor, leading to his death. In his suicide note, recovered from his room, the man apologised to his parents and stated he had failed to prepare enough to qualify for the exam. This confirmed he had died suicide a day before the exam. We are questioning the hostel staff and students if they had observed any unusual behaviour in his final days."
The student, a native of Uttarakhand's Almora district, had been preparing for NEET at a reputed coaching centre in Kota for the past two years. His hostel is in Kunhadi and he was all set to take the exam on Sunday.
The victim's father arrived in Kota on Sunday evening. Speaking to reporters, he said: "I don't know why he took such a drastic step. He was good at his studies and had no stress. He was my youngest son. He called me last Friday to say he was fine and studying for the exam."
Police handed over the body to his parents after a post-mortem....
