Jaipur, Sept. 24 -- Daytime temperatures have risen across Rajasthan as rainfall has subsided, with Jaisalmer recording a maximum of 42degC on Wednesday, the highest in the state. Bikaner recorded 39.6degC, Barmer 40degC, Churu 38.8degC and capital Jaipur recorded 35degC, bringing intense September heat to parts of western Rajasthan. Temperatures were also above normal in several other cities, including Jodhpur, Jaipur, Ajmer and Pilani. Warm winds added to the discomfort in the Jaisalmer, Barmer and Bikaner areas. Weather experts attributed the rise in temperature to northwesterly winds, which have reduced humidity across the state. They said conditions could become favourable for the withdrawal of the monsoon from parts of Rajasthan within the next 24 to 48 hours. The dry spell follows a weak August for rainfall in Rajasthan. Most districts received normal or below-normal rain, while several parts of western Rajasthan have faced drought-like conditions. Rainfall has remained limited in final phase of the monsoon season, and little relief is expected over the next few days. According to the Meteorological Department, light rain occurred at a few places in Dungarpur district during the preceding 24 hours.
