Jaipur Metro to run till 12.30 am from Nov 3 to 11 for festive rush
Jaipur, Nov. 4 -- Jaipur Metro will extend its operating hours till 12.30 am from November 3 to 11 to facilitate people visiting the city's markets during the Diwali festive season. The last trains will depart from Mansarovar and Badi Chaupar stations at 12.30 am, while the number of daily train trips has been increased from 202 to 214.
The decision has been taken in view of the increased footfall in Jaipur's markets during the festive season, particularly in the Walled City, where people throng to see the illuminated markets and festive decorations. The extended service is expected to provide commuters with a convenient option to return home late at night.
According to Jaipur Metro CMD Vaibhav Galriya, the Jaipur Vyapar Mahasangh had requested an extension of metro services until midnight during Diwali. A delegation led by its president Subhash Goyal and general secretary Suresh Saini met him and submitted the demand. The metro administration subsequently decided to extend the operating hours until 12.30 am.
Meanwhile, traffic restrictions will remain in place in the Walled City from November 6 to 9 to manage the festive rush. Entry of city and mini buses, autorickshaws and e-rickshaws into the Walled City will be prohibited during this period. The extended metro service is expected to provide an alternative mode of transport for visitors and help reduce the pressure of private vehicles in the congested market areas.
The delegation also urged the metro administration to expedite the expansion project beyond Badi Chaupar, arguing that improved connectivity would help ease parking and traffic congestion while boosting trade and tourism. Galriya apprised the delegation of ongoing expansion work beyond Badi Chaupar and said the target was to open this stretch for public in the coming year....
