Jaipur, Aug. 10 -- Heavy rain continued to lash Rajasthan on Sunday, with Jaipur, Sikar, Sri Ganganagar and Kotputli-Behror among several districts receiving heavy showers. In Jaipur, nearly three hours of continuous rain led to severe waterlogging in several parts of the city, disrupting traffic and normal life. Water was seen flowing at high speed through low-lying areas of the state capital. Several roads were inundated, with residents of Jhotwara's Nivaru Road staging a protest by sitting in the waterlogged street. The heavy rain also caused traffic snarls in several parts of Jaipur, particularly in the old city areas, where water was seen flowing rapidly through the streets. Kanota Dam, located near Jaipur, overflowed on Sunday morning after two days of rain. Water from the Achrol hills flows through the Dhund river before reaching the dam. The first waterfalls of the monsoon season also became active in the Galta pilgrimage area of Jaipur. Following heavy rain on Sunday morning, water began flowing around the temple. A youth died after being electrocuted in rainwater in Borawar town of Makrana in Didwana-Kuchaman district on Sunday, while his friend suffered burn injuries. The incident occurred near RK Marble when the two, identified as Ishwar Singh and his friend Ramzan, came into contact with live current in water accumulated near an electricity transformer. Both were injured and taken to a private hospital in Makrana, where doctors declared Ishwar dead.
