Nagaur, Aug. 27 -- The Shri Chaturdas Maharaj Temple Committee at Butati has come under scrutiny over alleged financial irregularities amounting to nearly Rs.22.74 crore, with police registering an FIR against 11 people and launching an investigation. The alleged discrepancies were found in the committee's financial records for 2023-24 and 2024-25, including donations, bhandara expenses, construction work and other expenditures. The report flagged payments for works and services without adequate supporting documents. Around Rs.31.27 lakh was allegedly shown as expenditure on village development-related work, while Rs.82.41 lakh was reportedly spent on CCTV and security arrangements. Other questioned expenses include Rs.37.33 lakh on security, Rs.7.87 lakh on the gaushala and nearly Rs.97.48 lakh on repair and maintenance. An amount of around Rs.1.40 lakh deposited into the temple's bank account through an ATM was also allegedly not properly reflected in the records. The report raised questions over other transactions for which supporting documents were reportedly unavailable. Police are examining the temple committee's accounts, bills and other records to establish the extent of the alleged irregularities and fix responsibility. DSP of Mundwa Dharam Poonia, who is investigating the matter, said that following the court's order, a case had been registered and an investigation initiated. So far, statements of three people have been recorded. Police said the, statements of other concerned individuals and committee members will be recorded soon, after which the facts will be verified.
