Bharatpur, Sept. 14 -- The wife of a Bihar-cadre IPS officer approached the Mathura Gate police station in Bharatpur on Sunday, seeking help to regain custody of their six-year-old daughter, whom she alleged her husband took away without her consent. The woman, from Jhunjhunu, claimed her husband took their daughter to his family's residence in Bharatpur around 20 days ago without informing her. She alleged her in-laws subsequently prevented her from entering the house or meeting the child. According to the woman she financially supported the family while her husband prepared for the Union Public Service Commission examinations and was subsequently allotted the Bihar cadre and is currently serving as a district superintendent of police.The officer is originally from Fatehpur Sikri in Uttar Pradesh's Agra district. The woman alleged that her husband now wanted a divorce,. "I approached the Mathura Gate police station and requested the police to help me meet my daughter and regain her custody. However, my complaint was not registered," she alleged. HT attempted to contact the IPS officer for his response, but did not receive a response. Bharatpur city circle officer Aashima Vaswani said the matter was a marital dispute and the woman had been advised to approach the family court.
