India's 1st int'l-level dermatology institute ready at SMS Hospital
Jaipur, March 15 -- Rajasthan is set to get the country's first international-level Institute of Dermatology at the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur, which is likely to begin operations soon, officials said.
The institute has been developed at Charak Bhawan of SMS Hospital and will provide advanced skin and cosmetic treatment facilities in the government sector at minimal rates, making procedures that cost lakhs in private hospitals affordable for the general public, states an official release
Principal secretary, medical and health, Gayatri Rathore, inspected the facility on Saturday and directed officials to start the institute at the earliest. She said the centre is among the most advanced in the world and is the second such institute after London to offer high-end dermatology care.
The institute has been equipped with six types of advanced laser machines, including diode laser, fractional carbon dioxide laser, excimer laser and alexandrite laser, which are used for the treatment of various congenital and cosmetic skin conditions.
The facility will also offer advanced cosmetic treatments such as hair regrowth through the PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) method, skin tightening and wrinkle removal using HIFU technology, and laser treatment for vitiligo and psoriasis.
Radiofrequency and cryotherapy procedures for various skin diseases will also be available. These treatments, which usually cost lakhs of rupees at private clinics, will be provided here at nominal charges.
Rathore also inspected the newly built Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences at SMS Hospital. She said the civil work of the state-of-the-art cardiac tower has been completed and installation of equipment should be expedited so that the facility can start functioning soon and provide advanced cardiac care under one roof. The cardiac institute will have 212 beds, five operation theatres, five cath labs and four OPD counters....
