JODHPUR, Aug. 10 -- The Rajasthan High Court has directed the state government to appoint two members of the Rajasthan Civil Services Appellate Tribunal within a week after being informed that the tribunal is currently non-functional due to vacancies in key posts. A division bench of Justice Inderjeet Singh and Justice Sandeep Taneja passed the order while hearing a petition filed by practising advocate Dilip Singh Kurka. The petition pointed out that the posts of chairman, judicial members and administrative members of the tribunal were lying vacant, preventing government employees from availing themselves of the statutory remedy of appeal. The petitioner's counsel submitted that the state government had recently issued transfer orders affecting thousands of employees. However, with the tribunal not functioning, employees were facing considerable difficulty in seeking redressal of their grievances. Appearing for the state, Advocate General Rajendra Prasad told the court that two members of the tribunal would be appointed within a week. Taking note of the assurance, the bench listed the matter for August 11.
