Bharatpur, July 26 -- The Gurjar community has announced a march to Jaipur with thousands of supporters to press for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the murder of alleged dacoit Jagan Gurjar, saying the state government's judicial inquiry has failed to inspire confidence. Addressing a press conference in Bharatpur on Saturday, Gurjar leader Prahlad Gurjar Khatana alleged that the government had failed to identify those responsible for Jagan Gurjar's murder inside Ajmer Central Jail. He said the community would intensify its agitation if the demand for a CBI inquiry was not accepted. Jagan Gurjar was killed inside Ajmer Central Jail on the night of June 28. Khatana said an agreement had been reached with the government after the incident under which Jagan's three brothers were allowed to attend his cremation. However, he alleged that no action had been taken against jail officials, the post-mortem report had not been handed over to the family, and they had not been informed about the progress of the judicial inquiry. "We are demanding a CBI probe. The government should make the findings of the judicial inquiry public," Khatana said, alleging that the state government was attempting to shield those responsible for the killing. Referring to the July 12 protest at Jagan Gurjar's native village in Dholpur, Khatana said thousands of people from Rajasthan and neighbouring states had participated in the demonstration. He alleged that although Bari SHO Devendra Sharma was transferred to the police lines after the protest, he was posted as SHO of Nihalganj police station within 12 days. "If action was taken against him, why was he given another posting so soon? We want to know who influenced this decision," Khatana said. He further alleged that Jagan Gurjar had been illegally detained at Bari police station before being shifted to jail and that the inquiry initiated against the officer had yielded no results. Jagan Gurjar, who faced more than 100 criminal cases, including murder, robbery and extortion across Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, was allegedly strangled to death by his cellmate, Vishnu Jat, 23, a resident of Ajaan village under Kumher police station in Deeg district....
