Jaipur, Aug. 12 -- The state government is preparing a special action plan to promote rural tourism in tribal areas, officials said on Monday. Under the initiative, natural resources, handicrafts and folk traditions of tribal communities will be preserved and promoted alongside the development of tourist destinations, they said, adding that over Rs.306 crore worth of tourism projects are being undertaken in tribal areas, including the development of the Tribal Tourism Circuit and Maharana Pratap Tourism Circuit. The Tribal Tourism Circuit will include several important religious, cultural and natural heritage sites. The government plans to spend Rs.49.40 crore on development at Beneshwar Dham in Dungarpur, popularly known as the "Kumbh of tribals", and Rs.13.41 crore at Mangarh Dham in Banswara, said officials. The circuit will also cover Matrikundiya in Chittorgarh, known as the Prayag of Mewar; Sitamata Wildlife Sanctuary and Gautameshwar Mahadev Temple in Pratapgarh; Tripura Sundari Temple in Banswara; and Rishabhdev Temple in Udaipur, the official said. Over Rs.206 crore has been proposed to develop the Maharana Pratap Tourism Circuit, which will connect important sites associated with the legendary Mewar ruler. Development and conservation works are also underway at several other sites, including Shilpgram in Dungarpur, a heritage walkway in Chittorgarh, Baiji ki Baori in Gogunda, and Karni Mata Temple and Neemach Mata Temple in Udaipur, added officials quoted above....
