Govt to prepare action plan over legal mining
Jaipur, June 19 -- The Rajasthan government will prepare a time-bound action plan covering every stage from mineral block delineation to auction to accelerate mining auctions, curb illegal mining and boost investment in the sector, officials said.
Additional chief secretary (mines and petroleum) Aparna Arora on Thursday directed field officers of the department of mines and geology to expedite the preparation of mineral blocks for auction. She said timely auctions would promote legal mining, help check illegal mining activities, attract investment in the mining sector and generate employment opportunities at the local level.
Chairing a hybrid review meeting of senior departmental officers at Khanij Bhawan, Arora stressed that the entire process - from identification and delineation of mineral blocks to their auction - should be executed according to a clearly defined timeline. Such an action plan, she said, would enable effective implementation and monitoring while also contributing to higher state revenues.
In line with the chief minister's policy of zero tolerance against illegal mining, the department is focusing on increasing the number of mineral block auctions to encourage legal mining operations....
