Jaipur, April 18 -- The Rajasthan government has directed City Gas Distribution (CGD) companies to launch aggressive awareness campaigns and accelerate the rollout of piped natural gas (PNG) connections, with a long-term plan to declare select urban colonies as LPG-free zones. Additional Chief Secretary (Mines & Petroleum) Aparna Arora issued the directions during a virtual review meeting with CGD entities on Friday, stressing the need to connect households to Domestic Piped Natural Gas (DPNG) for round-the-clock, safe and cost-effective gas supply. She instructed CGD companies to prepare a phased roadmap to convert infrastructure-ready areas into LPG-free zones, aligning with the state's green energy goals. "The aim is to ensure 24x7 access to safe and affordable gas while transitioning households towards cleaner fuel," she said. Arora said over 6,000 new DPNG connections have been issued in the past 15 days, with a target to connect another 8,500 households in the next fortnight. Both Centre and state government are prioritising expansion of PNG infrastructure and facilitating transition to piped gas.htc...
