Govt launches online portal to book subsidised fertilisers
Jaipur, June 27 -- The Rajasthan government has launched a digital booking system that aims to plug leakages in the supply chain of subsidised fertilisers, officials said on Friday.
Agriculture commissioner Naresh Kumar Goyal said the Framework for Fertilizer Sales (FFS), modelled on the Centre's AgriStack farmer registry, went live on a pilot basis in Sirohi and Rajsamand districts on June 25.
Farmers can now book subsidised fertiliser either from home or at a nearby e-Mitra kiosk, generating a digital token in the process. The token remains valid for a maximum of 2 days, after which it must be re- booked. Officials said farmers can use the token to collect their subsidised fertiliser from the nearest authorised dealer.
The system would help authorities verify the identity of genuine farmers and tighten monitoring of fertiliser distribution and use, said Goyal, adding that it was expected to improve transparency in the sector and curb diversions such as hoarding or black-marketing.
The state is already at a leading position on farmer registrations, having issued IDs to around 8.66 million registered farmers, added the agriculture commissioner.
Meanwhile, district authorities in Sirohi and Rajsamand have updated information on fertiliser retailers and dealers , including local government directory (LGD) codes, on the Integrated Financial Management System Portal, and are clearing pending fertiliser authorisation letters, identifying master trainers, preparing outreach material, and training dealers on the new system. Officials said fertiliser stock and availability in the pilot districts will be monitored regularly, in line with guidelines issued periodically by the Centre....
