govt increases monitoring of fertiliser ahead of rabi season
Jaipur, Oct. 7 -- Rajasthan has stepped up monitoring of fertiliser stocks and distribution ahead of the 2026-27 rabi season, with the state government deploying 744 fertiliser inspectors to check hoarding, black marketing and illegal storage amid preparations to meet farmers' demand during the crucial sowing period.
The state has 3.73 lakh metric tonnes of urea, 1.04 lakh MT of DAP, 95,000 MT of NPK and 2.09 lakh MT of single super phosphate in stock, according to government. Supplies are continuing, officials said.
A state-level Fertiliser Distribution Regulatory Task Force meeting chaired by chief secretary V Srinivas on Tuesday reviewed the availability, allocation, supply and quality of fertilisers ahead of the rabi season.
"The priority of state is to protect the interests of farmers," Srinivas said, directing officials to ensure transparent distribution of DAP and urea according to demand. He also asked them to coordinate with fertiliser companies to ensure uninterrupted supplies of the quantities allocated to Rajasthan by the Centre....
