Jaipur, June 23 -- Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot has accused the state government of failing to respond adequately to a series of serious post-delivery complications reported in Kota, Bikaner and Jodhpur, alleging that the administration appears to be "completely asleep" despite multiple incidents involving women undergoing caesarean deliveries.
Reacting to the latest case from Jodhpur's Paota District Hospital, where several women reportedly developed severe infections following delivery, Gehlot described the situation as extremely alarming and said the recurrence of such incidents across different districts points to a deeper systemic problem in the state's healthcare system.
The Congress leader said he recently visited Kota, where five women died after suffering kidney failure following caesarean deliveries, and met several affected patients who continue to undergo dialysis after sustaining kidney damage. He said the emergence of similar cases in Bikaner and now Jodhpur should have prompted a much stronger response from the government. He said the government should not limit its role to providing immediate treatment but must guarantee future care for patients who may face lifelong health consequences.
"The families of women who have died should receive adequate compensation. Those who are still undergoing treatment must be assured long-term medical support," he said. Gehlot urged the government to expedite laboratory testing for advanced analysis....
