Jaipur, Sept. 6 -- Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday asked chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to explain during his Bhilwara roadshow what his government had done for Rajasthan's cities over the past two-and-a-half years. As Sharma entered the campaign for the urban local body elections, Gehlot alleged in a post on X that the BJP had deployed its organisation and government machinery because it feared defeat. He also alleged that opposition candidates were being threatened. "Had the state government delivered during its tenure, such extensive mobilisation would not have been required," he said. He questioned the seven-day gap between councillor election results and the polls for mayors and chairpersons, alleging that it had been provided to facilitate horse-trading. "BJP is resorting to all undemocratic methods in its pursuit of victory," he alleged. Gehlot asked how many property leases, flyovers and underpasses it had delivered. He also raised issues including damaged roads, traffic congestion, urban waterlogging, delayed drain cleaning, irregular sanitation and the stalled recruitment of sanitation workers....
