gehlot: BJP govt has lost its grip on the state's administration
Jaipur, Oct. 14 -- Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday alleged that the current state government had lost its grip on the state's administration.
"There is no government as such. Officials themselves are saying that this government has no grip or influence over the administration," Gehlot said.
Gehlot also expressed confidence that the Congress would win the upcoming panchayat raj elections by a substantial majority.
The former chief minister said the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), under state president Govind Singh Dotasra and leader of opposition Tikaram Jully, was coordinating preparations for the rural local body elections. Committees have been formed at the district, block and state levels, he said.
"The process has changed the political atmosphere across the state. I am fully confident that we will contest these elections unitedly and register a decisive victory," the former chief minister said.
Hitting back at Gehlot, BJP state secretary Ekta Agarwal said, "Gehlot has made a habit of blaming everyone else rather than introspecting about his own failures. The Congress talks about saving democracy, but it first needs to save itself from factionalism, infighting and leadership confusion in Rajasthan. Calling an elected government 'dictatorial' does not make it so. Gehlot should explain why the Congress failed to deliver on its promises during its tenure instead of issuing certificates on democracy"
"His claims of unity are equally unconvincing - if everything is so well coordinated within the Congress, why does he keep having to publicly assert that 'we are all united'? Rajasthan needs constructive opposition, not recycled rhetoric and political theatrics," she added....
