Four siblings drown in Dungarpur pond: Cops
Bharatpur/Dholpur/Jaipur, July 13 -- Four members of a family, including three siblings, drowned while bathing in Vatrak pond in Dungarpur's Badi village on Sunday morning, police said, adding that two children were rescued and admitted to hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Hina Damor (24), Pratik Damor (20), and Ishita Damor (15), the three children of farmer Babu Singh Damor of Badi village, and their cousin Raunak Parmar (20), a resident of Palanpur in neighbouring Gujarat. Two other children, Rajveer Damor and Jaisingh Damor, were rescued and admitted to Simalwara Hospital.
According to police, the group had gone to the pond for a bath around 10 am when they accidentally ventured into deep water and began drowning.
Jaisingh's father, Suresh Singh, who was nearby, rushed to the spot after hearing the children scream for help. He managed to pull his son and Rajveer out of the water, but despite his efforts, he could not rescue the other four before they drowned.
Hina, the eldest sibling, was a teacher at a private school in the village. Pratik had recently passed Class XII and had applied for admission to the first year of college, while Ishita was studying in Class XI.
A 50-year-old state government school teacher's body was recovered from Parvati river on Sunday in Dholpur, a day after he allegedly drowned in it while crossing through a culvert, police said.
The incident took place on Saturday under Maniya police station when a teacher was returning from the school to his house , police said.
Maniya police station in-charge Neeraj Sharma said "The school teacher fell into Parvati river while he was crossing river through a culvert."
Locals informed the police after they found a motorcycle and mobile on the culvert of the Parvati river. On being informed, police reached the spot and started rescue operation. The rescue operation was restarted again on Sunday where body of the teacher was recovered from the river. The deceased was identified as Shankar Lal, 50, native of Sahajpur village who was posted in state government school of Shahpura village.The body was handed over to the family members after post-mortem, police said....
