Jaipur, Aug. 23 -- The forest administration has stepped up surveillance and security measures in villages around the Dumoda and Falodi ranges following increased leopard activity and the recent death of a child. Forest officials on Saturday said camera traps have been installed to track leopard movements, while trap cages have been placed for safe capture and rescue. A forest department rescue team is operating round the clock, with regular patrolling in affected areas. Officials, along with sarpanches and local representatives, are circulating safety guidelines. Residents have been advised to exercise caution at night and early morning, avoid venturing out alone and not allow children outside unattended. People have also been asked to avoid dark or bushy areas, travel in groups near farms and report leopard sightings immediately instead of approaching or chasing the animal. The alert follows several incidents. A 78-year-old woman was critically injured after a leopard entered her home in Todara village in early August. Three leopards were later rescued from the Phalodi-Todara region within three days. Officials said four leopards have been rescued from the surrounding region in recent months.
