Food safety dept seizes 2,960 kg of flour items
Jaipur, Nov. 5 -- A food safety department team on Wednesday seized about 2,960 kg of semolina, refined flour and gram flour and destroyed 25 kg of food deemed unfit for consumption during inspections at four establishments in Jaipur, officials said. A food safety officer said that the team also collected seven samples for testing.
The inspections were carried out as part of the state's "Pure Food-War on Adulteration" campaign.
At Maheshwari Food Products' licensed address, the team found the premises closed. The firm had moved to another location about six months ago without informing the department, officials said.
The team then inspected the firm's second unit which did not have a food licence, the officer said. Officials found deficiencies related to cleanliness and food safety and seized about 2,960 kg of semolina, refined flour and gram flour. They collected three samples from the unit.
At Laxmi Bakers, the team found similar deficiencies and collected samples of Nankhatai biscuits and Suman Gold brand vegetable oil, officials said.
The team also inspected Riddhi Siddhi Sweets in Gopalpura and Dudh Mishthan Bhandar on Sahakar Marg, collecting one sample of mawa sweet each. 25 kg of material deemed unfit for consumption was destroyed at the former's, officials said.htc...
