Jaipur, Aug. 5 -- Intermittent rainfall continued across several parts of Rajasthan, including Jaipur, Alwar and Churu, on Tuesday as an active monsoon system persisted over the state. Waterlogging disrupted normal life in several districts, while villagers in Ajmer staged a highway blockade to protest flooding caused by poor drainage. In Ajmer's Kishangarh, a stretch of the Hanumangarh Mega Highway was submerged after continuous rain. Residents of Durdand village blocked the highway for nearly two hours on Tuesday morning, alleging that waterlogging had cut off access and inconvenienced commuters. Kotputli-Behror district received more than two inches of rainfall in the past 24 hours, leading to widespread waterlogging. Several vehicles were stranded on inundated roads, while fallen trees blocked traffic at multiple locations. Similar conditions were reported from Deeg and Karauli, where continuous rain submerged roads and disrupted movement. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a cyclonic circulation persists over northeastern Rajasthan, while the monsoon trough continues to pass through its normal position over northern Rajasthan. During the past 24 hours, isolated heavy rainfall was recorded in Dausa, Didwana, Hanumangarh, Kota and Sirohi districts, with Mandawar in Dausa receiving the highest rainfall at 107 mm. The weather office has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall in parts of the Bharatpur, Jaipur and Bikaner divisions on Tuesday, with isolated heavy showers likely over the Bharatpur division. Light to moderate rainfall is also expected over northeastern and northern Rajasthan on Wednesday. The IMD has further predicted that a fresh cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over eastern Rajasthan and adjoining areas from August 6-7, which is expected to reactivate the monsoon. As a result, moderate to heavy rainfall, and very heavy rainfall at isolated places, is likely in parts of the Bharatpur, Kota, Jaipur and Ajmer divisions between August 7 and 10. In contrast, rainfall activity is expected to remain subdued over parts of the Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions for the next two to three days before increasing again between August 7 and 9. Rainfall continued on Tuesday in several districts where showers had begun on Monday, including Jaipur, Kotputli-Behror, Deeg and Karauli. In Jhunjhunu, morning showers led to waterlogging in Court Road, Bagar, Vivekanand Chowk and adjoining areas after rain had lashed the town until late Monday night. In Bharatpur's Nadbai, steady rain since Tuesday morning brought relief from humid conditions, while in Deeg district, rainfall that began around 4am caused extensive waterlogging. Residents of Brij Nagar complained that they were forced to wade through nearly two feet of water, blaming the municipal body and local administration for inadequate drainage.
