FIR filed as woman dies after premature delivery
BIKANER, Aug. 25 -- A woman died at PBM Hospital on Sunday after her condition deteriorated following a premature delivery, officials said, adding that her family alleged negligence in treatment. Anupama (25), a resident of Sardarshahar in Churu district, had been referred to PBM before delivery and was admitted on August 11.
According to a police complaint filed by her husband Anand Meena, Anupama had high blood pressure and complained of eclampsia during delivery. She underwent delivery at PBM and gave birth to a boy, but her condition subsequently deteriorated. She was first shifted to the Trauma ICU and put on ventilator support before being moved to the Post-Covid ICU, where she died during treatment.
PBM superintendent B C Ghiya said the patient had been referred from the district hospital in Sardarshahar with multiple complications. He said she was treated under the supervision of a medical board and had a premature delivery, giving birth to a 1.8-kg boy. The superintendent said the patient was treated according to her medical condition.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Monday. The family has alleged negligence in treatment.
They claimed that when Anupama's condition deteriorated on August 14, no senior doctor attended her despite repeated requests.
The latest death comes against the backdrop of a series of postpartum deaths at PBM Hospital, with 19 such deaths reported in this year so far....
