Ex-min renews attack on Cong leadership
Bharatpur, Oct. 10 -- Former Rajasthan minister Vishvendra Singh has renewed his criticism of the state Congress leadership, accusing it of lacking direction, sidelining senior leaders and failing to guide young workers. His remarks come even as he has not formally responded to a show-cause notice issued by the party's disciplinary committee.
Singh was given seven days to respond to the notice over his recent comments critical of Pradesh Congress Committee president Govind Singh Dotasra and statements seen as contrary to the party line. The deadline has passed without an official reply.
In a lengthy social media post, Singh warned that the party risked losing its remaining support unless its leaders changed their approach.
"It is with great regret that I have to say that a party which ruled the country for 60 years has no one at the helm in Rajasthan today. It has been left to fend for itself," he wrote, accusing leaders of cutting off the very branch on which they were sitting. He said self-respecting people were finding it increasingly difficult to work in the party, alleging that seniority was no longer respected and the organisation lacked leaders capable of guiding young workers. He also urged the party high command to promote women to leadership positions.
Reiterating his commitment to public service, Singh said he had discharged his responsibilities as an MLA, MP and minister with honesty and dedication, without compromising on his principles or self-respect. "I have always spoken openly and acted in the public interest," he said.
HT tried to contact Congress MP from Bharatpur Sanjana Jatav for a reaction, but she did not respond....
