Dotasra attacks state, Centre over NEET leak, fuel price hike
Jaipur, May 20 -- Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led state and central governments, accusing them of running the administration through "event management and theatrics" while the state's economic and administrative structure was collapsing.
Addressing a press conference at the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters in Jaipur, Dotasra raised issues including rising inflation, the NEET paper leak, fuel shortages, unpaid government salaries and deteriorating health and education services.
"Rajasthan government was engaged in event management and theatrics to please Prime Minister Narendra Modi," said Dotasra,
Targeting the Centre over the NEET controversy, Dotasra alleged officials of the National Testing Agency (NTA) had been colluding with coaching mafias since 2019 to sell examination papers. He said the alleged scam was destroying the future of 2.2 million students and producing "fake doctors".
Announcing a protest, Dotasra said the Congress would organise a massive demonstration and gherao of the BJP office on May 21. The Congress leader alleged government employees had not received salaries for April and May and said, for the first time in 70 years, June was approaching without financial approvals being cleared.
He further alleged the finance department had directed that Rs.3,000 crore worth of public works department road projects be funded through DMFT funds intended exclusively for mining-affected areas.
Dotasra claimed that of 750 medicines previously supplied free of cost, even 50 were no longer being provided free. He alleged private hospitals were awaiting dues of nearly Rs.3,000 crore from the government.
Referring to deaths reported in Kota hospitals, Dotasra accused the government of showing "complete insensitivity" towards the incidents.
On education, he said the Governor had publicly acknowledged the decline in standards, vacant universities and the problem of fake degrees in the state.
Using sharp political remarks, Dotasra alleged that "it is not just a few irregularities, the entire system in Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's department is tainted."
He also accused bureaucrats of functioning under directions from Delhi and said contractors from Gujarat were benefiting from government decisions.
"They have neither answers nor accountability. There is only drama, lies and attempts to mislead people," he added.
Responding, senior BJP leader Rajendra Rathore said the NEET paper was not leaked from Rajasthan and that, thanks to the proactive approach of the BJP government and the police, the accused had been arrested.
He said the BJP government had acted responsibly, noting NEET dates had already been announced.
Rathore alleged that during the Congress regime 19 examination papers were leaked and the previous government had failed to act. He added the rise in fuel prices was due to higher crude oil prices in the international market....
