Jaipur, Aug. 28 -- Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra has accused the BJP government of putting undue pressure on district-level officials ahead of the upcoming civic body elections, alleging that officials were being asked to seek details of candidates considered likely to win for the BJP. In a post on X, Dotasara alleged that the BJP, which he claimed had already accepted defeat ahead of the civic polls, was using officials in the Chief Minister's Office to exert "unfair and unethical pressure" on officials at the district level. "Power will change, the chairs will change and the accounts will also be settled. Remember this," Dotasara said, warning BJP leaders and officials in the CMO not to be consumed by the "arrogance of power." He alleged that district magistrates and sub-divisional magistrates were being called and asked to provide forms of candidates who could potentially win for the BJP. Dotasara further alleged that attempts were being made to intimidate the families of government employees who were preparing to contest the elections on Congress tickets. Addressing Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the Congress state president questioned the nature of the democratic system being established in Rajasthan. "Democracy is not BJP's private court," Dotasara said, adding that such alleged "dictatorship" would not be tolerated. Countering Dotasara, BJP chief spokesperson Ramlal Sharma said, "This is an old Congress pattern. Whenever its leaders sense defeat, they start looking for excuses." "The Congress, which has been rejected by voters, is unwilling to accept the truth. Its leaders, divided by internal factionalism, are making such statements out of frustration and fear of defeat," he added.
