Jaipur, June 20 -- Doctors at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Medical College and Hospital in Jaipur on Thursday successfully performed a complex surgery to remove a massive abdominal tumour weighing nearly 12 kilograms from a 15-year-old girl from Sighana in Jhunjhunu district. The teenager had been suffering for several months from progressive abdominal swelling, a persistent feeling of heaviness and difficulty in eating. As the tumour continued to grow, it began affecting her daily activities and overall quality of life. Following medical examinations, she was admitted to the surgery department at SMS Hospital for specialised treatment. According to operating surgeon Dr Hanuman Khoja, the tumour occupied a major portion of the patient's abdominal cavity and weighed approximately 12 kilograms. Due to its enormous size and location, the surgery required meticulous planning and advanced surgical expertise. "The tumour had engulfed a large part of the abdomen. Using advanced surgical techniques and taking extreme precautions, we were able to safely remove the mass without complications," Dr Khoja said. The surgery was performed under the supervision of head of the surgery department Dr Richa Jain. The core surgical team included Dr Hanuman Khoja, Dr Dravya, Dr Ayush and Dr Bhavana. Supporting surgeons Dr Farukh Khan, Dr Dinesh Chand Sharma and Dr Akshita played key roles during the procedure, while the anaesthesia team was led by Dr Shailesh. Hospital authorities said the patient is recovering well after the operation. The abdominal swelling has reduced significantly and she is now able to eat normally. Her bowel functions have also returned to normal and she has resumed regular bowel movements. SMS Hospital superintendent Dr Mrinal Joshi said the entire treatment was provided free of cost under the Chief Minister Ayushman Arogya (MAA) scheme, ensuring that the patient's family did not face any financial burden during the course of treatment....
