Jaipur, March 18 -- Rajasthan chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Tuesday said his government is committed to round-the-clock public service and will not spare anyone involved in corruption, while accusing the previous Congress government of misleading people and stalling development. Addressing a 'Rajasthan Yuva Shakti Diwas' event as part of Rajasthan Day celebrations, Sharma alleged large-scale irregularities in the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), claiming that corruption in the scheme had led to ministers from the previous government going to jail. "Those who indulged in corruption will not be spared," he asserted. The chief minister also targeted the Congress over paper leak incidents, saying such cases were rampant during the latter's tenure but none have occurred since his government came to power. "Youth are now getting jobs with transparency," he said, adding that the previous government had betrayed young aspirants. Highlighting governance performance, Sharma claimed that while the previous government made 4,148 announcements in five years and completed only around 1,900, his government fulfilled 2,465 out of 2,719 announcements within two years. He also criticised the opposition for avoiding discussion in the assembly on comparative performance reports. On rural and infrastructure development, Sharma said his government has expedited long-pending projects by signing MoUs and moving towards implementation. He also defended his frequent visits to Delhi, saying they were aimed at securing benefits for the state, unlike the previous government which, he alleged, visited to "save its government." Emphasising the role of youth, Sharma said India is among the countries with the largest youth population and their energy is crucial for achieving the vision of a developed India and Rajasthan. He urged young people to work hard, assuring them of government support at every step. The chief minister also highlighted initiatives in Budget 2026-27, including interest-free loans for 5,000 tribal youth under the Chief Minister's self-employment scheme, setting up the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Global Centre for Advanced Skilling in Jaipur, and establishing ICT labs in 50 polytechnic colleges. He said the state government is strengthening infrastructure in water and power sectors through projects such as the Ramjal Setu Link, Yamuna water agreement, IGNP and Mahi projects. "Daytime electricity is now being supplied in 22 districts, and we aim to extend it across the state by 2027," he added. Sharma also said the government is working towards providing 4 lakh government jobs and 6 lakh private sector jobs, with over 1.25 lakh appointments already made and recruitment processes underway for more than 1.33 lakh posts. During the event, the CM inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth Rs.485 crore related to education, skill development, entrepreneurship and sports. Reacting to the remarks, Congress spokesperson Swarnim Chaturvedi said the BJP's "double-engine government" in Rajasthan has failed across sectors, with governance limited to speeches and tours. He said the previous Congress government under Ashok Gehlot had implemented several welfare schemes including the Chiranjeevi health insurance scheme, accident insurance cover among others. "This reflected Congress' vision, but the BJP government has shelved these initiatives, including the Udaan scheme, hurting public interest," he alleged....
