Cong panel to identify young candidates for panchayat polls
Jaipur, Aug. 20 -- The Congress on Wednesday launched a 'Panchayat Election Task Force' to identify new faces willing to contest the polls, as the state's local body and panchayat elections draw closer.
The initiative was launched by the All India Youth Congress at the Congress war room in Jaipur. Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee president Govind Singh Dotasra, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully, Youth Congress national general secretary Shailesh Narayan and Mohammad Shahid unveiled the task force poster and formally launched the campaign.
Under the initiative, Youth Congress teams will visit all districts of Rajasthan to identify young people interested in contesting local elections. Details of potential candidates will subsequently be submitted to the Pradesh Congress Committee for consideration.
Dotasra said ticket distribution would be carried out strictly by the party's established process and would not be based on recommendations from individual leaders. Ground-level support, organisational involvement and the candidate's ability to win would also be taken into consideration. Dotasra said the Congress has set a target of giving over 50% of its tickets to young candidates in the local polls.htc...
