CM unveils Viksit Gram-Ward Campaign on Rajasthan Day
Jaipur, March 20 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma launched the "CM Viksit Gram-Ward Campaign" on Thursday, Rajasthan Day, hailing it as a major drive to transform development into a people's movement across the state.
Unveiling the campaign's website and video, Sharma said the initiative aims to create a comprehensive development roadmap for every gram panchayat and urban ward, aligned with local aspirations. He called for widespread public participation to ensure holistic development and improved quality of life.
The chief minister said it would strengthen infrastructure, leverage local resources and skills, and create jobs to curb rural migration. He stressed identifying village strengths in agriculture, vegetation, minerals, and industries, emphasising processing units, mandis, and value addition to boost incomes.
Highlighting government efforts, Sharma said Rajasthan's per capita income has crossed Rs.2 lakh for the first time, thanks to initiatives for youth, women, farmers, and the poor-including jobs for 125,000 youth and empowerment of 1.6 million women under Lakhpati Didi.
He directed district collectors to prepare village socio-economic profiles covering education, healthcare, roads, electricity, water, and employment, engaging farmers, youth, and women for inclusive planning. He encouraged local groups and youth involvement.
Sharma said the campaign aligns with "Viksit Bharat 2047" and "Viksit Rajasthan 2047", turning aspirations into plans.
Chief secretary V Srinivas called it a key step towards long-term goals, coordinated by panchayati raj and urban local bodies departments with dynamic master plans to 2047.
The campaign runs March 19 to May 15, starting with gram and ward sabhas on March 20. It emphasises evidence-based planning via socio-economic profiles, GIS maps, and a digital portal.
Meanwhile, Sharma on Thursday also flagged off 207 new buses of the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation from the Ajmer Road bus terminal in Jaipur. The induction of these buses is expected to strengthen public transport in the state and improve connectivity and commuter convenience.
Extending greetings on Rajasthan Day and the Hindu New Year, Sharma said the state celebrates its foundation on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, the day when Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel established Greater Rajasthan on March 30, 1949. He noted that the state government decided to align Rajasthan Day celebrations with this traditional date, and this year the occasion is being observed across the state with enthusiasm on March 19, accompanied by a series of events. On the occasion, the CM also distributed helmets to 700 women, designating them as road safety ambassadors, and urged them to follow traffic rules and promote road safety awareness....
