CM transfers Rs.1k to 122,000 Anganwadi workers across state
Jaipur, March 31 -- Rajasthan chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Monday transferred Rs.1,000 each via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the bank accounts of over 122,000 Anganwadi workers and helpers for the purchase of two uniforms.
The transfer was made during a programme held at the CM's residence, where beneficiaries of schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Lado Protsahan Yojana and Kalibai Bheel Yojana were also handed cheques. Sharma said Anganwadi workers play a crucial role in nurturing young children and strengthening the foundation of the nation. "They are key to nation-building as they shape the future generation," he said.
The Chief Minister added that the government has taken several steps in the past two years to strengthen Anganwadi centres. Honorariums of Anganwadi workers, helpers, and other contractual staff, including mid-day meal cooks and assistants, have been increased by 10%, effective April 1, 2026.
Under the Amrit Aahar scheme, children aged 3 to 6 years are being provided hot milk five days a week at Anganwadi centres. Infrastructure strengthening and repair works are also underway. Additionally, smartphones have been distributed to Anganwadi workers and supervisors, and plans are in place to provide free eye check-ups and spectacles.
Sharma also urged Anganwadi workers to contribute suggestions to the ongoing 'Chief Minister Developed Village-Ward Campaign', being conducted from March 19 to May 15, aimed at preparing development roadmaps for all village panchayats and urban wards. Emphasising women's empowerment, he said over 16 lakh women have become financially independent under the Lakhpati Didi scheme, with the loan limit increased from Rs.1 lakh to Rs.1.5 lakh in the current budget....
