CM pulls up officials over delay in key govt projects
Jaipur, April 25 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Friday pulled up senior officials over delays in key infrastructure and welfare projects worth nearly Rs.23,890 crore, warning of strict accountability and action against erring personnel if timelines are not met, according to people aware of the matter.
Chairing the fourth review meeting of the state government's flagship monitoring initiative "Raj Unnati" at the Chief Minister's Office, Sharma expressed strong displeasure over sluggish execution and made it clear that "no laxity will be tolerated" in completing development works. He directed departments to ensure time-bound completion of all projects, adding that personal responsibility would be fixed in cases of delay.
The chief minister instructed departments to hold high-level review meetings at least 15 days prior to the Raj Unnati meeting, enabling better monitoring at the departmental level.
Reviewing progress in the agriculture sector, Sharma flagged delays in the establishment of Custom Hiring Centres, noting that 87 proposals remain under process.
He questioned why the list had not been finalised within the stipulated timeframe and directed the Rural Development and Cooperation departments to coordinate and expedite approvals.
Emphasising enhanced connectivity as a priority, Sharma directed officials to conduct pre-feasibility studies for greenfield airports at Bharatpur-Deeg, Sikar-Jhunjhunu, Abu Road and Banswara.
He also asked authorities to complete the tendering process for the Nal Airport project in Bikaner within the deadline, in coordination with the Centre.
Officials informed the meeting that approvals for land transfer for civil airport expansion have been granted, and demarcation by the Forest and Revenue departments has been completed.
The chief minister reviewed progress on the proposed Rajasthan Mandapam in Jaipur, to be built on 90 acres along Tonk Road B2 Bypass.
He directed the Industries Department, Jaipur Development Authority, PHED and the Jaipur district administration to prepare a coordinated and actionable plan.
He stressed the need to enhance connectivity of the project site with major roads including Tonk Road and JLN Marg, and called for all necessary approvals to be secured swiftly to ensure completion within two years.
Taking stock of the Jaipur Northern Ring Road project, Sharma directed officials to expedite land acquisition and administrative approvals.
He set clear timelines-completion of land acquisition by June 2026, commencement of work by October 2026, and project completion by January 2028.
Officials from the National Highways Authority of India briefed the meeting on the current status.
The meeting also reviewed progress on MoUs signed under the "Rising Rajasthan" initiative. Sharma directed officials to expedite land acquisition for a generative AI-based innovation and skill development project in Jodhpur.
Reiterating the government's commitment to the welfare of denotified, nomadic and semi-nomadic communities, the Chief Minister said budgetary provisions have been made to provide housing to such families.
