Jaipur, July 12 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Saturday said nearly 49,000 km of roads have been developed across the state over the past two-and-a-half years at a cost of over Rs.33,000 crore. Addressing an inauguration and foundation stone-laying ceremony in Kekri, Ajmer, Sharma said that 18,000 km of new roads have also been constructed and over 3,000 km upgraded and strengthened under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). He added that the expansion of the railway network and development of new airports are providing fresh momentum to Rajasthan's infrastructure growth. During his address, the chief minister also launched a sharp attack on the previous Congress government, alleging that rampant corruption and repeated paper leak incidents had jeopardised the future of Rajasthan's youth. He claimed the Congress was voted out of power because it had "broken all records of corruption" and said his government is committed to ensuring transparent recruitment while creating employment opportunities for young people. Sharma said Rajasthan's electricity generation capacity has increased significantly and the government is working towards providing daytime electricity to farmers across the state. According to him, farmers in 26 districts are already receiving daytime power, and the facility will be extended to all districts by next year. He also claimed that drinking water projects are currently underway in every district of Rajasthan. Calling water the state's biggest priority, the chief minister said the government is implementing major projects, including the Ram Jalsetu Link Project, the Yamuna Water Agreement and the Dewas Project, to ensure drinking water reaches every household. Emphasising rural development, Sharma said the government is investing in education, healthcare, irrigation, roads and other infrastructure to create employment opportunities in villages and reduce migration. Reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a developed India, he said his government is committed to transforming Rajasthan into a developed state while working for the welfare of the poor, farmers, women, labourers and youth. Sharma said the annual assistance under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi in Rajasthan has been increased from Rs.6,000 to Rs.9,000, with a target of raising it to Rs.12,000 in the future. He also highlighted subsidised electricity for farmers, the Rajasthan Cooperative Gopal Credit Card Loan Scheme, which provides interest-free loans of up to Rs.1 lakh to livestock owners, and the Mukhyamantri Mangala Pashu Bima Yojana, under which more than 2.2 million livestock insurance policies have been issued. Sharma said the government has issued appointment letters to 178,000 candidates At the event, Sharma laid the foundation stone for the Nasirabad-Sarwad-Kekri-Deoli Phase-I four-lane road and the Singawal-Gopalpura-Bhinay-Tantoti Road and Dabrela MDR road. He also inaugurated the State Integrated College of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy building, road upgradation works in Kekri, Sarwad, Nasirabad, Sawar and Deoli, and the construction of culverts and roads in Kekri area....
