CM backed out of tenure performance debate, alleges Jully
Jaipur, Feb. 28 -- Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully on Friday hit out at the state government over the "two years versus five years" performance debate, delays in RCA elections, alleged recruitment exam irregularities, and unfulfilled poll promises. Accusing the government of backtracking on its own challenge and failing to deliver on key commitments, Jully said the state needed accountability over rhetoric as elections drew closer.
During the debate on the Appropriation Bill, Jully said it was the chief minister who had initially proposed a debate comparing the BJP government's two-year tenure with the previous Congress government's five years. "You showed courage in proposing it. But why did you later back out?" he asked.
The Opposition also targeted the government over the shift in narrative on the "2 years vs 5 years" debate, alleging that advertisements such as "One Year, Result-Oriented Excellence" did not match ground realities.
Referring to a rally by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Ajmer, the Opposition alleged that buses were diverted and even public representatives were asked to disembark to mobilise crowds. It also sought accountability on promises such as LPG cylinders at Rs.500, 125 days of employment, Rs.1,000 pensions and expansion of English-medium schools.
Jully also questioned the status of investment MoUs, implementation of schemes and compensation delays in incidents reported from Bhiwadi and Jaisalmer. He alleged that several colleges inaugurated recently were actually sanctioned during the Congress government.
He also demanded a comprehensive probe into recruitment examinations up to 2026, asking why the government was reluctant to investigate alleged paper leaks over the past 12 years.
During the debate on the Appropriation Bill, BJP MLA Gurveer Singh claimed that Rajasthan's growth rate now exceeds the national average and highlighted substantial allocations for core sectors in the state budget. Targeting the Congress over allegations of land allotment to the Adani Group, he argued that similar land allocations had also taken place during Congress rule....
