CM: Our govt created 193K jobs, recruitment underway for 118K
Jaipur, Oct. 26 -- Rajasthan chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Sunday said his government had provided appointments to 193,000 posts and recruitment was under way for another 118,000 posts, asserting that 410 examinations had been conducted transparently without paper leaks.
Addressing BJP workers after listening to the 139th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Mann Ki Baat programme at Khatu Shyamji in Sikar district, Sharma outlined the state government's development agenda, highlighting water-sharing agreements, expressway projects, agricultural processing infrastructure and heritage tourism in the Shekhawati region.
Sharma said the Centre and the state government were working together to strengthen farmers' incomes, adding that Rajasthan was among the country's leading states in the production of crops, pulses, oilseeds and fruits.
The state government was promoting food-processing units to help farmers secure better prices for their produce while creating local employment opportunities, he said. Dairy processing capacity was also being expanded, he added.
"Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajasthan has received the gift of four important water agreements," Sharma said, referring to agreements concerning the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP), Yamuna water, Narmada water and Kisau project.
Emphasising water availability as a priority, the CM said work on ERCP was progressing following an agreement with Madhya Pradesh. An agreement with Haryana for Yamuna water supply would benefit the Shekhawati region, he said. Under Yamuna water agreement, a reservoir costing Rs.800 crore is being constructed at Hansiyawas, he added.
Sharma also referred to the Narmada water agreement involving four states and an agreement on the Kishau project, saying these initiatives would help improve water availability in Shekhawati and other parts of Rajasthan.
Work was also under way on Som-Kamla-Amba, Dewas and Brahmani river projects, he said. The government had added 10 lakh members to strengthen the cooperative sector, Sharma said.
The CM said Rajasthan had moved towards self-sufficiency in electricity generation, claiming that power production had tripled during the past two-and-a-half years, ensuring adequate supply across the state.
The government was developing the Kotputli-Kishangarh and Bikaner-Kotputli expressways, which would improve connectivity between Shekhawati and the national highway network, boost trade and benefit farmers and tourism, he said. Sharma also highlighted the region's historic havelis, describing them as an important asset for tourism and economic development.
The government was working to preserve 662 havelis in Shekhawati, he said, adding an event would be held in the region on December 8 to promote a heritage tourism circuit, with participation from Rajasthanis living outside the state.
He said the Karmabhoomi se Matrubhoomi initiative, supported by the diaspora, had led to the construction of more than 61,000 water conservation structures. Development works worth around Rs.7,000 crore were being undertaken in Sikar district, he added.
Sharma said Rajasthan had performed strongly in implementing national schemes and programmes, ranking first in 12 schemes, second in 10 and third in eight.
Referring to the recent urban local body elections, he said voters had added a "third engine" to the BJP's double-engine government by supporting the party at the local level.
He expressed confidence that voters would do the same in the panchayat elections to accelerate development. The CM said the government fulfilled its promise of implementing the One State, One Election initiative....
