CM: Global Raj Agritech Meet from May 23 to 25
Jaipur, April 24 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Thursday said that Rajasthan has firmly established itself as one of India's leading agricultural states. He also announced that the state will host the Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet (GRAM)-2026 in Jaipur from May 23 to 25.
Addressing the GRAM-2026 Investors Meet in New Delhi, Sharma said the event aims to bring together farmers, agricultural experts, policymakers, and investors on a single platform. The focus will be on leveraging agricultural technology to strengthen farmers and boost productivity. He emphasized that the conference will play a crucial role in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of "Empowered Farmers, Prosperous India."
The chief minister extended an open invitation to investors and entrepreneurs to participate in GRAM-2026, describing it as a significant opportunity to explore Rajasthan's vast agricultural potential.
Sharma underlined that Rajasthan's diverse agro-climatic conditions have enabled it to emerge as a national leader, ranking first in the production of several key crops including bajra (pearl millet), mustard, oilseeds, barley, guar, isabgol, and cumin.
This diversity, he said, opens up immense opportunities in food processing, spice parks, and agri-export sectors. He added that under the GRAM initiative, activities are being organized at every administrative level - from girdawar circles to districts - to ensure maximum farmer participation and benefit.
Reaffirming the government's commitment to creating an investor-friendly ecosystem, Sharma said that during the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth around Rs.44,000 crore were signed in the agriculture sector.
Of these, projects worth over Rs.9,000 crore have already been grounded. He said GRAM-2026 will further accelerate this investment journey.
The state has also taken steps to strengthen agricultural infrastructure, he said. Jhalawar and Tonk are being developed as model districts for pulses production, while the central government is supporting the distribution of over 300,000 quintals of seeds with subsidies, he said.
The chief minister stressed that the government is equally focused on allied agricultural activities. Rajasthan has installed over 65,000 solar pump sets with subsidies exceeding Rs.1,000 crore in the last two years, significantly reducing farmers' electricity costs and improving productivity.
Efforts are on to ensure that farmers have access to nearby processing units to enhance value addition and income, he said, adding that the state has already established more than 1,500 agro-processing units and identified land for food parks.
Sharma said the state has increased the Kissan Samman Nidhi to Rs.9,000 annually. Under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, Rajasthan has issued highest number of policies in the country - over 21. 9 million - and disbursed claims exceeding Rs.6,500 crore....
