Civic body plans to convert temple offerings into compost
Jaipur, July 28 -- The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has launched an initiative to convert biodegradable material collected from selected Shiva temples during the Shravan month and convert it into organic compost to distribute as 'Shivarpanam Prasad', officials said on Monday.
The initiative aims to ensure that offerings such as bel leaves, flowers and other biodegradable nirmalya are not discarded as waste but are processed into organic manure, they said .
They added that the civic body will collect temple offerings every Monday from selected temples using electric hoppers. The collected material will be processed through shredders at nearby public gardens before being composted....
