Jaipur, Sept. 12 -- Rajasthan, will prepare a comprehensive "Narcotics Control Vision 2026-29" to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking and abuse, said chief secretary V Srinivas. Chairing a review measures to prevent drug trafficking and abuse, Srinivas directed departments concerned to ensure coordinated and effective action against the growing narcotics threat. The proposed three-year vision will focus on four key pillars - enforcement; intelligence and operations; control of precursor and synthetic drugs; demand reduction and harm reduction; and capacity building, coordination and monitoring. Officials told the meeting that Rajasthan had intensified action against narcotics, with the state currently ranked first in the country in seizures of opium, doda post and MD. The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) has so far seized drugs worth around Rs 730 crore and arrested 93 drug kingpins, officials said. The task force has also busted 34 MD manufacturing factories in the state and carried out destruction of seized narcotics, according to the government. Srinivas directed officials to strengthen forensic investigation in narcotics-related cases and ensure that scientific methods are effectively used in such probes.
