Jaipur, Aug. 12 -- Chief secretary V Srinivas on Tuesday directed senior officials to accelerate governance reforms, simplify government procedures, improve grievance redressal and ensure timely implementation of welfare schemes at a high-level Committee of Secretaries meeting in Jaipur. Srinivas stressed public participation in the "Reform Utsav" campaign and said that it should be used to identify and implement systemic reforms aimed at simplifying government procedures and improving access to public services. Suggestions received from citizens through the phased process of 'Jan Manthan, Vimarsh and Jan Samadhan' should be converted into practical reforms, he said. The State Action Plan will be prepared and submitted by September 10, followed by a public awareness campaign from September 11. Jan Manthan Sabhas will be organised in every gram panchayat on October 2. The planning department has been designated as the nodal department for the initiative. District-in-charge secretaries will regularly review preparations and coordinate with the concerned central ministries. The Department of Youth Affairs will facilitate greater participation of young people. The chief secretary also directed officials to explore the possibility of introducing a single application form to simplify government procedures.
