Bharatpur/Dausa, Oct. 6 -- An investigation has been launched after cannabis and a mobile phone were recovered during a search operation at Shyalawas jail in Dausa, police said on Monday.
Acting on information about alleged illegal activities inside the jail, a team of around 150 police personnel, led by Additional Superintendent of Police Vinod Seepa, conducted a search operation on the premises.
Police recovered 650 grams of cannabis and a mobile phone during the search. The contraband and phone were found buried in a bathroom, police said.
Paparda police station registered a case following the recovery and launched an investigation to identify the source of the cannabis supply inside the jail.
"We are investigating the source of the cannabis supply and identifying those involved in supplying the drug to inmates," Seepa said.
The station house officer of Paparda police station has been appointed as the investigating officer. Jail employees and other suspected sources are also being questioned as part of the investigation, Seepa said....
