candidates get unopposed wins in several wards
Jaipur, Sept. 3 -- Candidates in several wards have secured unopposed victories following the rejection or withdrawal of rival nominations in state municipal polls.
Congress candidate Maya Devi was elected unopposed from Ward 65 of the Sikar Municipal Council after BJP nominee Pinky Panwar and independent candidate Sarita Devi withdrew from the contest.
In Ward 20 of Hindoli Municipality in Bundi, Congress' Hanuman Vyas was elected unopposed after BJP nominee Jitendra Singh's papers were rejected.
Similarly, BJP candidate Leela Gehlot won Ward 69 in Bikaner unopposed following the rejection of Congress nominee Mamta Sansi's nomination.
BJP's Manan Kalasua may also secure Ward 23 of the Dungarpur Municipal Council without a contest as Congress candidate Ganesh Katara's nomination was rejected.
Congress suffered a major setback in Hanumangarh, where the nominations of NSUI district president Rohit Jawa from Ward 37, Lakhveer Singh from Ward 31 and Banshi Khanna from Ward 52 were rejected. The party has objected to the decisions.
Meanwhile, BJP candidate Budram Garhwal, contesting from Ward 32 of Pragpura Municipality in Kotputli-Behror, has reportedly gone missing. His son, Rahul Choudhary, has filed a police complaint.htc...
