BJP wants young people to take up principled politics: State chief
Jaipur, Aug. 26 -- State BJP chief Madan Rathore on Tuesday said the party wanted more young people to enter politics, take on responsibilities and emerge as trained public representatives committed to public service.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office during the release of a guidebook for the upcoming urban local body elections, Rathore said the party was training its young workers and giving them opportunities to participate in politics and public life.
"Youth should come forward in politics, their participation should increase, they should be trained and, by becoming public representatives, work with a mission of public service," Rathore said.
He said the BJP's priority was to ensure that the new generation moved forward under the guidance of senior leaders and remained committed to serving people.
Rathore said there was considerable enthusiasm among young people and women ahead of the civic elections. He said the enthusiasm at the grassroots reflected the positive image of the BJP among people, which he attributed to welfare and development initiatives of the "double-engine" government and the strengthening of the party organisation.
Rathore also hailed chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma's decision to conduct in the spirit of "One State, One Election".
He said frequent elections not only increased expenditure but also disrupted administrative functioning and affected the government's ability to remain focused on public welfare.
Rathore described elections as a "festival of democracy" and said every BJP worker had a responsibility to act as a guardian of democracy.
He said BJP workers remained alert and fulfilled their responsibilities irrespective of whether the election was for a panchayat, local body or Parliament.
Rathore said voters were the ultimate authority in a democracy, but political workers also had a responsibility to provide them with correct facts and counter misinformation being spread by the Opposition.
The BJP state president said the party's organisational strength and the participation of young and women workers would be important during the upcoming civic elections....
