BJP MLA's residence burgled in Jaipur's highest-security area
Jaipur, Oct. 30 -- A thief allegedly broke into the private residence of former Rajasthan minister and BJP MLA Pratap Singh Singhvi in Jaipur's Civil Lines area late Wednesday night, escaping with approximately Rs.1.5 lakh in cash and artificial jewellery while around 12 people slept inside.
The theft has raised serious concerns about security in Jaipur, particularly in the high-security Civil Lines area, which houses the residences of the governor, chief minister and several ministers. Singhvi's residence is approximately 300 metres from Lok Bhavan and 500 metres from the CM's residence.
Singhvi's personal assistant, Rajveer Singh, said the intruder entered through the kitchen. Around 12 people were present in the house, but none noticed the intruder entering or leaving, he said. "Once inside, the accused fled with cash and artificial jewellery," Singh said. The total value of the stolen cash and valuables was being assessed.
Sodala SHO Manoj reached the residence with a police team after receiving information about the incident. Officers inspected the premises and examined footage from CCTV cameras installed at the house.
According to police, the footage shows a suspect entering the residence. Investigators are trying to establish his identity and reconstruct his movements using footage from cameras in and around the property. A forensic science laboratory team was also called to collect fingerprints and other evidence.
DCP (South) Rajarshi Raj said, "A special team is investigating the case. Around Rs.1 lakh in cash and artificial jewellery were stolen. Efforts are underway to identify the suspect using CCTV footage. The accused will be arrested soon."
Police are investigating how the intruder gained access to the house and whether he acted alone or received assistance.
